Kathmandu Institute of Applied Sciences (KIAS) is a not-for-profit research organization founded in 2014 by a group of Nepali scientists with proven excellence in research. KIAS aims to provide an intellectual leadership to the society by fostering innovations in science and technology. Current research KIAS range from biodiversity, climate change, drought study, environmental pollution to development of new technology for biological and chemical analysis, especially suitable in low-resource settings. Currently, KIAS has three active centers for excellences. Apart from regular research, KIAS organizes trainings, workshops, and science outreach programs including short-term schools and conferences targeting students, researchers and scientists.

Major responsibilities

KIAS in collaboration with Tilicho Research Institute (TRI) is developing nanoparticle synthesis and solar cell KITs for educational use. Major responsibilities of the selected candidate are:

• literature survey for the project
• plan and executive experiments
• survey market for the product
• product development & marketing
• plan and coordinate meetings
• field visits

 Minimum qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science or related field. Candidate with research experience and higher degree will be given preference
• Good communication skills – both oral and writing
• Basic computer skills
• Strong commitment, determination and enthusiasm for science and research
